Hero Day at Camp Dodge
The Iowa National Guard would like to invite Scouts to their facility to learn more about duty to country at Camp Dodge in Johnston.
The Iowa National Guard and Mid-Iowa Council will host Hero Day at Camp Dodge to allow Cub Scouts to learn more about what the members of the Iowa National Guard do. The Johnston Police Department and Johnston Fire Department will also be there to learn more about our local first responders.
You have been invited to come out at 9:00 am and to go around the base with your Scouting family to have some fun hands-on activities with your Cub Scout.
Planned activities include:
· Tour of the Iowa Gold Star Museum
· Military vehicle display
· Law Enforcement display by the Johnson Police Department
· Fire Fighting Equipment display by the Johnston Fire Department
· Flag folding and flag ceremonies
· Self-Guided Driving Tour of the Base
Please register to attend the event. Please plan on arriving by 9:00 am at the Atrium at the Freedom Center on Camp Dodge. Scouts will be placed into groups to rotate around activities on base with their families.
Scouts BSA may come and work on the requirements to earn their Fingerprinting or Fire Safety Merit Badge.
Scouts are asked to wear their uniform. Anyone 16 and over must have a photo ID to get on base. No weapons or contraband will be allowed on base.
