Dear Egg Hunter,

Thank you so much for wanting to spend your Saturday night with us supporting Scouting! The event will go on as long as long as it is safe to do so. We will send an email and post on the Sagamore Council, Boy Scouts of America facebook page and the Scouting 4 Eggs Adult Easter Egg Hunt Page if anything changes, but as of 7 AM on Saturday, April 1, the HUNT IS ON and we don't anticipate that changing based on the forecast. Have some grace with us though, we have to dispurse 30,000 eggs today while dodging the morning and afternoon rain. That is a 6 hour job with 83 eggs needing to be hidden per minute; granted we have about 50 people hiding them!

It is going to be a great time tonight. First off, here is a link to the event guide. Check it out before you come! . Should you ever need space for a wedding, work gathering, team building activity, family campout, work conference, or the like, contact Emily.Wheeler@Scouting.org to discuss options for your group/activity. We have two camp properties, Cary Camp and Camp Buffalo (north of Monticello) available for year round use.

A few things to note for the event:

We have done everything in our power to ensure that this event is a HUGE success, if we fall short of that, please feel free to provide constructive criticism so we can improve. Remember to be friendly, courteous, and kind as the Scout Law instructs. The DJ Trailer will serve as our HQ and lost and found. If you need something you can go there for answers.

You will park at Faith Church East (5526 IN-26 Lafayette, IN 47905) beginning at 6 PM. We will have 7 school busses shuttling you in and out of camp for the evening. This allows us to serve more people with the event and not have to worry about you getting your car stuck in a field becasue the ground is too wet. IF AND I MEAN IF we fill up Faith Church's parking lot, Meijer will be used as an overflow. This will be made on the fly and not announced in advance. Start at the church, if our staff direct you to Meijer, head there and the busses will run accordingly. Once you get on camp, you can check in at the flag poles.

Participants with handicapped placard on/in their vehicle are allowed to park at camp. Just show the volunteers at the main gate your placard.

Make sure you plan for the weather. It may be cold, muddy, rainy, or just beautiful...it is too early to tell. There will be spots where you can get muddy and wet on the trail, it may not hurt to have a spare pair of socks/shoes in your carry-pack. It isn't necessary but no one likes wet, cold feet. There will be a fair amount of eggs on this area of the hunt zone.

You do not need a physical ticket to check in. All hunters will be on check in sheets based on the names given at the time of registration.

WHEN DO WE HUNT?? WE WILL NOT START BEFORE 8 PM. Between 8:15-8:45 PM (as the sun begins to set) we will be gearing up for the start. Our DJ will give instructions. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THAT TIME TO ARRIVE AT CAMP!!!!!! IF IT IS DARK AT 8:15 WE MAY START THEN!!!!!!!! We intend on starting at approximately 8:30/8:45 PM (depending on the sun) and you will have one hour to hunt and then you need to move back to the front of camp. There will be a siren (similar to a police siren) that blows telling you it is time to come back in.

We have 7 food/drink vendors; they should take credit/cash for your purchase. We have 3 food trucks (Puritan Coney Island Express, Guac Box, and Rollin In Dough Wood Fire Pizza), a coffee truck (Gypsy Joe's), a dessert booth (Nothing Bundt Cakes), and a drink booth (Generation NA) [Non Alcoholic Beer]. We will also have soft drinks for sale at the hut.

Speaking of alcohol, there is none allowed at Cary Camp. There is no alcohol for sale or consumed on the property. You may be the winner of an alcohol oriented prize. You must show ID to claim that prize. Hunters that are under 21 that win one of those prizes will receive an alternate prize.

There will be an egg limit, that will be announced at the hunt. There are over 30,000 eggs. There is a map of the camp in the event guide linked above. Check it out! This is the first year we are allowing you to hike the Bloodgood Trail...it is more challenging than the upper part of camp historically used. It isn't hard, but it is harder.

Don’t go past orange/yellow/pink/red caution tape. ONLY follow the EGG ZONE on the map. This is for your safety. Danger areas are marked with red glow sticks, water hazards are marked with blue, and the Bloodgood Trail is marked with white.

All eggs have tickets in them. Those either A) correspond directly to a prize or B) give you a chance at a prize. PLEASE DO NOT OPEN EGGS WHILE YOU ARE WALKING AROUND. This will minimize trash in camp and keep you from losing winning tickets. When you get done hunting, there will be a few people in the gathering area handing out slips of paper that discuss what eggs win and what eggs don't..make sure you get one of those papers, so you know if you are a winner.

Speaking of trash in camp; we ask that you only smoke in the gathering area and not out on the trail. This will minimize your desire to litter. Make sure you throw trash in trash bins and eggs in egg bins.

All participants must have their wrist band on to claim prizes.

Please be aware of the people around you – be safe while you search!

There is an Easter-inspired costume contest and a photo booth. Have some fun with both!

There will be golden eggs and treasure boxes with special prizes! Good luck finding those!

We will have free smores for all! All you have to do is pick them up from the smores stand or get them from the Scouts walking around with wagons. They are FREE and there is no need to tip them. Just tell them you want some and enjoy!

Feel free to bring a lawn chair to relax in by a fire!

Violators of these safety rules will be asked to leave the event without a refund.

Please share the registration link for the event on your social media accounts: http://scouting4eggs.com; the more people we have, the funner the event will be! We have a 1,200 person capacity. 750 tickets sold so far!

There are two games that you can participate in before the hunt itself begins, one is a 50/50...you guess how many eggs are in the mega basket and the closest without going over will win half of the money! $5 per guess. The other is a spin-the-wheel game...$5 per spin. Cash and card accepted for games, but cash is preferred. There are a bunch of prizes, candy, eggs, and even an April Fool's Joke on the wheel! Speaking of April Fool's Day...there may be another trick or two up our sleeve...remember that if you get tricked...it's all in fun...not to cause anger and frustration. It just so happens that our hunt falls on April 1st.

Lastly, I'd like to thank our sponsors: Caterpillar, Bowen Engineering, Centier Bank, Creative Inc, Duke Energy, Generation NA, Guaranteed Automotive and Transmission, Gypsy Joe Coffee Co, Mid America Beverage, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Phillips Law, Purdue Federal Credit Union, Puritan Coney Island Express, Rollin in Dough, Rump Shakers, The Guac Box, Adrenaline Fundraising with Kerry Johnson, and Wabash.

I'd also like to thank the 100+ businesses that have donated prizes for the hunt this year!!

That is all for now. Stay tuned to our event page on facebook for other updates.

Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to email Bryon.Haverstick@Scouting.org

Thanks so much!

See you tonight for the biggest adult Easter Egg Hunt in the area!
