2026 Outdoor Skills Day and Wabash Valley District Pinewood Derby - Presented by Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc.

Pinewood Derby is getting bigger and better this year!! On top of our classic Cub Scouting event, we have added Outdoor Skills Day to our program in 2026!  We have created a fantastic combined event that includes camping this year!  Please take a look at the opportunities below for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and even adult trainings!

Cub Scouts! 

If you are a Cub Scout, bring your Pinewood Derby Car for a traditional Pinewood Derby Race, plus so much more!  We will have Cub Scout skill station rotations like knife skills, first aid, cooking, and fun and games!  

Cub Scouts do have the opportunity to ONLY compete in the Pinewood Derby.  That cost is $10 for both Cub Scouts and Siblings.  Food is NOT included, but there will be an opportunity to buy a lunch ticket that supports Troop 372 in Lafayette Indiana.

Scouts BSA!

If you are a Scouts BSA member, you will spend the day working on Scout Rank requirements like knots/lashings, Firem'n Chit, and begin your journey to the Tenderfoot Rank!  If you have already earned your Scout Rank, you will work towards your Tenderfoot and Second Class rank!  You will earn your Totin Chip, work on knots, first aid, and fire building!  Scouts BSA can also volunteer at this event if you are First Class or higher!  Volunteering is always free!  

Adults! 

This is a time to have a great adventure with your children and even learn a thing or two!  We will be offering 3 trainings throughout the day:  My AOL is now in Scouts BSA.  Help!, Adult Scouts BSA Bootcamp that helps teach you what it is like to walk in the footsteps of your Scouts BSA Child, and we will offer Basic Life Saving and CPR/First Aid certification courses.  BLS and CPR/First Aid comes at an extra cost(30 dollars if attending the event and 45 dollars if only taking the training course).

This is a camping event where lunch, dinner, and the next morning's breakfast is included in your ticket!

Where: Franklin L. Cary Camp

Arrival time on April 11th is 7:30 AM at Franklin L. Cary Camp!  

Activities start at 8:30 AM

Check out on April 12th is at 10 AM

Pricing:

$10 per Cub Scout attending ONLY Pinewood Derby

$10 per sibling attending ONLY Pinewood Derby

$30 per Cub Scout attending BOTH Pinewood Derby and Outdoor Skills Day

$30 per sibling attending BOTH Pinewood Derby and Outdoor Skills Day

$30 per Scouts BSA attending event

$40 per Scouts BSA attending event AND taking BLS/CPR Training (Register under the BLS/CPR Training option)

$45 per Scouts BSA ONLY taking BLS/CPR Training without staying for the event

$10 per registered adult attending event 

$40 per registered adult attending event AND taking BLS/CPR Training (Register under the BLS/CPR Training option)

$45 per registered adult ONLY taking BLS/CPR Training without staying for the event

$60 per family: Families registering with 3 or more people (adults and Scouts included) attending the event. Example: 2 Scouts+parent means parent is free! Please register under this registrant selection for the pricing, as well as register each individual family member under the registrant selection for "Member of Family of 3 or More Information".

Adults and Scouts BSA members volunteering at the event are free and can register for the BLS/CPR Training for only $30.00!
