Leave No Trace Master Educator Course

Event Details

Leave No Trace is an educational, non-profit movement dedicated to the responsible enjoyment and active stewardship of the outdoors by all people, worldwide.  The Leave No Trace concept is one that crosses all boundaries of the recreation spectrum and is applicable for anyone who enjoys spending time in the out-of-doors. The idea is simple – leave the places you enjoy as good as or better than you found them. Both skills and ethics are involved, as well as good decision-making.  For more information about Leave No Trace, check out: http://www.lnt.org

This is a BSA Leave No Trace Master Educator Trainers Course. This course is a two-weekend version of a five-day course that trains passionate individuals to serve as Leave No Trace Master Educators.  Master Educators work with their council's outdoor ethics advocate to provide Leave No Trace Trainer, and outdoor ethics awareness courses. Each BSA Master Educator course is taught by a set of nationally designated Master Educator Instructors, so your Master Educator standing is recognized nationally by the BSA's partner, the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and other agencies. https://lnt.org/learn/training-structure

BSA Adult Leaders, Venture Crew Advisors, and youth 18 and older who are interested in learning more about the 7 principles of Leave No Trace and how to effectively teach those principles and associated skills. This valuable training is recognized throughout the world by the outdoors industry, land management agencies, and the outdoor recreation community.

$275.00 – The course fee covers lodging, food, training materials and recognition items. Registration is limited to the first 12 participants and will close July 15th, 2018.  Register for the course at https://www.scoutingevent.com/160-lntmastered2018

Participants will stay indoors during the first weekend.  On the paddling portion of the course, we will likely camp in both designated and pristine campsites. Course participants will need to provide their own camping equipment and bedding. Canoes, PFD’s, and paddles will be provided.
