2018 Interfaith Interactions Training

Event Details

This educational opportunity will enlighten youth and adult leaders regarding the various faith traditions of the Scouts in our Council with whom you will interact either within your own Unit (Pack/Troop/Crew/Team), or at various District and Council Events.  All Pack, Troop, Crew and Team Leadership are welcome.  And you are encouraged to invite those in your community who seek to better understand a faith person in their neighborhood.

Speakers include experts on the following faith traditions:

Islam;    Judaism;    Roman Catholic; Hindu;  Sikh; and Latter Day Saints

who will provide information on their faith history and beliefs, as well as, answer questions that may address how best to interact respectfully with those within that faith.

We will also have a special Interfaith worship planning breakout session for Scouts to help them prepare in their youth leadership skills, and especially those who are serving, or will serve, as Chaplain Aides.

A Scout is Reverent, that is, he respects other faith traditions than his own.  This one afternoon of interaction is the best way to "Be Prepared" to interact with those of a faith with whom you may not be familiar.
