Discovery Day Camp - 8-10 yrs. old group

Event Details

Discovery Day Camp for 8-10 year olds is based out of the Skip and Alex Lange Innovation Center, is open to the public and has six different Discovery tracks: Aquatics Discovery, Nature Discovery, Shooting Sports Discovery, STEM Discovery, Wild West Discovery, Wilderness Survival Discovery.

Each Discovery Track has an unique focuse in addition to the camp wide theme, Wild Wild West. Throughout the week campers will have a shooting sports experience and time in the pool everyday. Campers will complete their Discovery Track Quest while exploring all the activities offered at Camp Belzer including familiar favorites like the obstacle courses, The Maze, BB guns, archery, swimming, science experiments, crafts, and MUCH MORE!  All this and complementary pre-care and aftercare.

Aquatics Discovery:  In the Aquatics Discovery track campers will have fun while improving their swimming skills and boating techniques. Participants will learn age appropriate safety and rescue procedures for aquatic activities while having plenty of time in the pool or on the water. Instruction in swimming, boating, aquatic games, and the natural aquatic environment is provided in a fun, safe, and educational experiences. Participants will also have time to do traditional camp activities like archery and camp wide games.  Members of the BSA may complete some requirements towards rank advancement or merit badges.

Nature Discovery:  The Nature Discovery track is focused on all thing’s outdoor conservation and science. Participants will participant in conservation activities while on a journey to discover how we interact with and affect our natural world. Participants will also have time to do traditional camp activities like archery and camp wide games.  Members of the BSA may complete some requirements towards rank advancement or merit badges.

Shooting Sports Discovery:  In the Shooting Sports Discovery track campers will learn how to safely use age appropriate firearms. Our younger participants will learn how to use BB Guns, Slingshots, and Bows and Arrows. 6th-8th grade campers will participate in air rifles, shotguns, archery and throwing sports. Some activities may occur offsite and when this happens lunch is not provided.  Participants will also have time to do traditional camp activities like swimming and camp wide games.  Members of the BSA may complete some requirements towards rank advancement or merit badges.

STEM Discovery:  The STEM Discovery track is everything Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This experiment-based STEM program uses many traditional camp activities like archery and swimming to discover how Science, Technology, Engineering and Math affects us everyday.  Members of the BSA may complete some requirements towards rank advancement or merit badges.

Wild West Discovery:  Discover the Wild Wild West!  The Wild West Discovery track is this year’s camp wide theme.  Campers in this track will complete the Wild West Quest while exploring all the activities offered at Camp Belzer including familiar favorites like the obstacle courses, The Maze, BB guns, archery, swimming, science experiments, crafts, and MUCH MORE!

Wilderness Survival Discovery:Discover your outdoor survival skills in the Wilderness Survival Discovery track. Campers will learn basic first aid, hiking, backpacking, camping, fire starting, and cooking skills all while exploring and surviving in the forest throughout Camp Belzer. Participants will also have time to do traditional camp activities like swimming and camp wide games.  Members of the BSA may complete some requirements towards rank advancement or merit badges.
