Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation
(BALOO Training)
This one-and-a-half day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. BALOO training consists of an online pre-requisite component in addition to an overnight outdoor camping experience. Completion of this course is mandatory for a MINIMUM OF ONE adult on a Pack overnighter.
Course Fee: $20
There will be no on-site registration for this training. Participants must register in advance.
Meals Included
The following meals are included in the registration fee:
- Friday evening cracker barrel
- Saturday breakfast
- Saturday lunch
- Saturday dinner
- Sunday breakfast
Attendance Requirements
Participants must be on site and actively participating for the entire course, from Saturday at 8:00 AM through Sunday at 1:00 PM.
No late arrivals, early departures, or other time accommodations can be made. Participants who do not complete the full course will not receive BALOO training credit.
Because you are attending as a course participant:
- You cannot be counted as your Troop or Pack's two-deep leadership for any part of the event.
- You cannot serve as your unit's Grubmaster for meals during the event.
Required Prerequisites
Before arriving, participants must complete the following training through My.Scouting.org:
- BALOO Online Course
- Hazardous Weather Training
- Safeguarding Youth Training
You must bring a copy of the completion certificate for each course with you to check-in.
Required Health Forms
Participants must bring completed Scouting America Annual Health and Medical Record Parts A and B when checking in.
Please make sure all prerequisites, certificates, and health forms are completed before arriving.
