Lange Innovation Center Merit Badge Classes

Event Details

Skip and Alex Lange Innovation Center Merit Badge Series

Every Month we will offer 1-2 different merit badges. Most merit badges will be offered Wednesday evenings and are broken up into two sessions. 
You must attend both sessions to receive credit for the completed the merit badge.

November:

Climbing - November 5, 13, and 19.  (All classes are 6pm to 8pm at the Skip + Alex Lange Innovation Center)

Wood Carving November 9th 1pm-5pm

  • Pre-requisites- 1(b) Show that you know first aid for injuries that could occur while wood carving, including minor cuts and scratches and splinters.
  • Read the MB book, so you have the knowledge to answer several discussion items
  • Bring your Totin' Chip to class
  • Bring a knife with a blade no longer than 4 inches. If you have a sharpening stone, that would be helpful to bring.

December:

FingerprintingDecember 7th

  • Pre-requisites 

    1. Print the merit badge worksheet: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Fingerprinting.pdf

     2. Fill in the following sections:

  •           Be familiar with the history of fingerprinting. 
  •           Be able to tell the difference between civil and criminal identification
  •           Be familiar with the automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS)
  •           Be familiar with biometric fingerprint systems
  •           Name the surfaces of the body where friction or papillary ridges are found.
  •           Name the two basic principles supporting the science of fingerprints and give a brief explanation of each principle.
  •           Explain what it takes to positively identify a person using fingerprints.
  •           Be familiar with the three basic types of fingerprint patterns and their subcategories.

Cost: 
$25 - per Scouts BSA youth ages 10-17 (plus cost of materials if required)
