Walk-ins are not available for classes at Camp Belzer

 

Every Scout deserves a trained leader. University of Scouting is the premier training event in the council, and is the easiest way for you to achieve this goal. This training event, offered by the Crossroads of America Council, is designed to supplement any Scouter's training.

Degrees and courses are available in three "Colleges" related to Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and General Studies. Each College offers a Bachelor, Masters, and Doctoral Degree program. 

Register for Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) and Intro to Outdoor Leadership Skill (IOLS) at https://scoutingevent.com/160-iolsbaloo2022.

Register for Wilderness First Aid at https://scoutingevent.com/160-WFA2022.

Lunch is by Jug's Catering featuring fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, coleslaw, and biscuits with apple butter. We are unable to provide dietary accommodations. 

No projectors or handouts will be provided to the University of Scouting instructors this year. Participants will be given access to a shared virtual drive with all course materials in electronic format. Participants are encourage to either print out course materials or bring an electronic device (computer, phone, or tablet) to follow along with the instructor the day of the event.

Participants may earn degrees or complete additional courses for a Continuing Education certificate.

Bachelor Degree
Bachelor Degree requirements:

  • Youth Protection training (YPT) is current.
  • Position-Specific training for your registered position is complete (and could be part of your coursework at this event)
  • Four (4) credits from the College of your choice.
  • Two (2) additional elective credits from any College.

Masters Degree
Masters Degree requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelor Degree from this University of Scouting or College of Commissioner Science
  • Youth Protection training (YPT) is current.
  • Position-Specific training for your registered position is complete (and could be part of your coursework at this event)
  • Three (3) credits from the College of your choice.
  • Three (3) additional elective credits from any College.

Doctor of Scouting Degree
Doctoral Degree requirements:

  • Hold a Masters Degree from this University of Scouting.
  • Youth Protection training (YPT) is current.
  • Position-Specific training for your registered position is complete (and could be part of your coursework at this event)
  • Four (4) credits from the required Ph.D. courses.
  • Two (2) credits from any College of your choice.
  • Complete a written thesis or project under the mentoring and approval of University PhD staff following this event.
  • Your Doctoral Degree will be awarded at a future University of Scouting after your thesis or project is complete and accepted.

Continuing Education Certificate
Continuing Education Certificate requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelor, Masters or Doctoral Degree from this University and desire to continue the educational process.
  • Youth Protection training (YPT) is current.
  • Position-Specific training for your registered position is complete (and could be part of your coursework at this event).
  • Complete six (6) additional credits from any College.
  • There is no limit to the number of Continuing Education certificates you can earn from this University.
