2018 Belzer Community Day Camp
Community Camp is a day camp offered to boys and girls ages 6-11. It's held in conjunction with Cub Scout Day Camp and offers youth an opportunity to experience activities pertaining to STEM, sustainability, physical fitness/healthy living initiatives, and the outdoors.
Does my family have to be in Scouting to attend Community Camp?
Community Camp is open to non-Scouting AND Scouting members!
Community members can experience the same tried and true outdoor program that we provide to our Scouting families, held at one of the best camp facilities in the Midwest. Belzer is an accredited camp with staff members trained to provide your child with an outstanding experience.
If your family is already in Scouting, Community Camp might be a good fit for your Scout, as well. If your Scout is unable to attend Belzer Day Camp with their pack due to scheduling conflicts, Community Camp gives them the opportunity to still enjoy day camp this summer. If your Scout would like to attend day camp for a second or third week, Community Camp is a great option, as well.
When is Community Camp held?
There are three week-long sessions during the summer of 2018. During Sessions 2 & 3, hours are Monday through Thursday 8:15 am - 4 pm, and Friday 12:30 - 5:30 pm, after which families are encouraged to participate in the family dinner (available to purchase or bring a picnic) and campfire program. Extended programming is available Monday through Thursday until 5:30 pm, for an additional $30/week.
Session 1 provides a unique opportunity for families during the week of the Independence Day. For this session only, the hours are 8:15 am - 4 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with the extended programming option on these days. Wednesday, the Fourth of July, will be Family Day from 12:30 - 5:30 pm. There will be several special activities for the holiday and families are encouraged to stay after 5:30 for the family dinner (available to purchase or bring a picnic), campfire program, and fireworks.
Why should my child attend Community Camp?
Community camp allows youth to make friends in their community, work on life-skills (teamwork, communication, and trust) while making life-long memories and having unique experiences. Siblings, Scouting friends, and non-Scouting friends are all welcome to attend too!
What should my child bring to Community Camp?
A hot lunch is included each day. See the menu here. Each child will also need to bring a completed health form on the first day. Belzer has three swimming pools to accommodate all swimming abilities. Your child will swim most days, so be sure that they bring a swim suit and towel. They will also want to bring a water bottle, sun screen and bug spray (non-aerosol, please). A trading post is available featuring snacks, souvenirs, and T-shirts, if you wish to send any spending money.
