Exploring_Eli Lilly Engineering

The post meets twice per month during the school year to help students learn about engineering careers in various disciplines and work environments. Typically one meeting per month is an activity and the other is a tour. Past activities have included mousetrap car contests, spaghetti bridge building, an activity related to pharmaceutical development, a circuit-building lab, and “CSI Indianapolis” where students have to use math, physics, and logic principles to solve a crime. Each activity is tied back to a concept important either in the study of engineering and engineering technology or situations a student may encounter in an engineering workplace (communications, making presentations, etc.). Tours take place at businesses in the Indianapolis area and have included such locations as behind the scenes at the Indianapolis Zoo, a local architecture and engineering firm, facilities under construction, a local Indy car racing team, and Lucas Oil Stadium.
