2020 WAPEHANI DISTRICT FALL CAMPOREE

October 16th - 18th Maumee Scout Reservation

THE FINAL FRONTIER CAMPOREE

Download the Event Packet (located in the attachments section) for a full rundown on this event.

*** Because of the limited number of slots available there will be no walk-in registrations. You will be turned away if you have not reserved a spot.  ***

We will attempt to use both Friday and Saturday night to observe the sky. Weather at that time may dictate actual time on the telescopes.

For ScoutsBSA Troops:

  • Scout BSA members will have a chance to work on their Astronomy Merit Badge (Pre-reqs Needed) or the Space Exploration Merit Badge (bringing their own rocket)
  • Participate in the Alien Costume Contest
  • Observe the rocket launches from the Space Exploration merit badge

For Cubs and Webelos:

  • Race in our district's first Space Derby starting at 1p Saturday. (Must purchase and build rocket prior to event. You can buy them at our scout shop.)
  • Run through some space oriented games
  • Participate in the Alien Costume Contest
  • Observe the rocket launches from the Space Exploration merit badge
  • Dens may camp with host troops

We will be practicing the following general COVID precaution guidelines:

One person per tent, unless they are family. All participants will be checked for fevers, at the registration area, prior to going to campsites. Masks are required when you cannot maintain a 6’ distance or when you are at the waterfront during the observation hours. Hand sanitizer will be at each station. Telescopes will be wiped down before each use. No buildings will be open. Scouts should be equiped with a daypack with their own personal gear such as waterbottle, paper/pencil, personal sanitizer, personal first aid kit, etc.

It is recommended that units have designated teams of cooks and cleanup crews to minimize the un-needed touching of cooking and cleaning equipment by a lot of people.

*** Water will be available at the outdoor spigots at the OA shelter and Campmaster to prepare accordingly.
