TRIP DATES

The contingent will leave July 6, 2024 from Galesburg, IL via train. It will return at the same location on July 16, 2024. Times will be communicated as we get closer. Please note that this is for 4 adults and 8 Youth. There will be a waitlist, so please still register and make the deposit to hold your spot in the waitlist. If we get up to 16 total people, we will petition Philmont for a second crew. 

WHAT IS PHILMONT?

Philmont Scout Ranch is one of four national high adventure bases owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America.

Located in northern New Mexico, near the town of Cimarron, Philmont is a working ranch of more than 137,000 acres.  It consists of mountains, plateaus and valleys very different than what we are used to here on Mr. Lincoln’s Prairie.

 More than 20,000 Scouts and Leaders hit the trails each year.  During the summer season, crews hike from camp to camp each day. At each camp, crews participate in a different activity.

Crews carry their gear and restock food every four days. Program areas are staffed by trained Philmont staff members.

ALL PARTICIPANTS

Must have a physical within 12 months of their participation, signed by a doctor.  The record must be on the Philmont Medical Form and include being current in the indicated immunizations. There are weight restrictions for both youth and adults, based on their height.  Visit www.philmontscoutranch.org to see the chart. 

YOUTH PARTICIPANTS 

 -Youth members must be 14 years old OR 13 years of age and have completed the 8th Grade.

 -There is a maximum of 12 members in a crew, including 3-4 adults.

ADULT PARTICIPANTS

The council reserves the right to interview adult applicants prior to approving participation.

Adults must be physically capable of hiking in Philmont’s high mountains, must allow youth members to lead, and reflect the high moral standards of the BSA.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

The deposit is due for registration to hold your spot. The amounts in the month below are required by that month to stay current. If you register after that month you will need to get caught up ASAP. Please contact the office after completing registrations if you register and need to catch up on payment.
