Aviation Merit Badge

Date: Saturday, August 23rd  

Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm

Location: Prairie Aviation Museum (2929 E Empire St, Bloomington, IL)

Maximum number of Scouts: 30

Cost - $25 per person / $30 after Aug. 12 (paid in full)

Registration Closes: August 18

We will conduct a 6-hour merit badge day consisting of 5 separate stations, each lasting approximately 1 hour.  The Scouts will be put into groups of six and rotate through the stations. There will be a break for lunch and lunch will be provided. There are no pre-requisites and after completing all stations, the Scouts will have satisfied all requirements to earn merit badge.

The Airplane and Careers -

Flight Planning - includes use of flight simulator.

Preflight - Walk around inspection of an airplane - also look at other aircraft and engines.

FPG-9 - Scouts to build a glider and will participate in a flying contest to go for distance 

The Airport - identifying runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, etc. - tour facility.
