Camporee Chief’s Minute

Welcome and let the games begin! This year’s W. D. Boyce Council, BSA’s Fall Camporee returns to Ingersoll Scout Reservation for Scout Olympics. Our event is looking forward to transporting our Scouts to Paris on the prairie and commemorating the best of Scouting with the spirit of competition and sportsmanship. Events are a mixture of scout-skill tests, teamwork challenges and physical contests. The emphasis on this Camporee is fun, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Camporees are a chance to join in on one of the oldest traditions in Scouts BSA history. Council level gatherings provide an opportunity to match skills with other scouts within the W. D. Boyce Council. There will be fun, fellowship, and friendship. This guide is intended to help your unit prepare for the fun and excitement of this year’s Fall Camporee.

The Scout Oath and Scout Law will govern the behavior of ALL participants during the weekend. The Principle of Leave No Trace should be always practiced. Let’s leave ISR in as good, if not better, condition than when we arrived.

We will hold a sock drive as part of our Camporee’s Service Project for Peoria Rescue Ministries. This not-for-profit organization provides shelter for the homeless and creates pathways out of poverty through its faith-based program. Bring socks to donate to Peoria Rescue Ministries to receive bonus points for your Patrol.

We love volunteers: both adults and Scouts! Scouts who are 14 years old with Star Scout Rank are welcome to join our camporee team. By staffing, Scouts get a chance to practice leadership and help make this event even more amazing for everyone. If you have Scouts who are interested (which they should be), reach out to us as soon as possible.

In closing our Camporee team is excited to organize another great event for you and we cannot wait to see you all at ISR in October.
