USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Course

Take your archery skills to the next level and learn how to safely introduce others to the sport with the USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Course!

This course prepares participants to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of disciplines. Participants will learn the fundamentals needed to confidently and safely lead archery activities, including range safety, range setup, the steps of shooting, equipment, equipment repair, programs, lesson plans, and more.

The course is open to Scouts and Scouters ages 15 and older and consists of two required portions: an online course and an in-person practical course at Camp Loud Thunder. The online portion must be completed before attending the practical course. Upon successful course completion, certification is valid for three years.

• Check-In: 7:30 AM
• Course Begins: 8:00 AM
• Course Length: Approximately 4.5–8 hours, depending on class size and skill level
• Location: Camp Loud Thunder, 9906 175th St. W., Illinois City, IL
• Who: Scouts & Scouters ages 15 and older
• Online Course: $40, plus applicable state sales tax
• Practical Course: $35

Participants should bring a pencil, pen, highlighter, notebook or paper, sack lunch, and Health Form Parts A & B. Please do not bring personal bows or arrows—all necessary archery equipment will be provided.

Registration for the Practical Course is open through February 25, 2027, at midnight. Please note that the online and practical portions require separate registration.
