Boo Camp 2018

NOTE ON OCTOBER 19, 2018:  For those still interested in attending Boo Camp, they are accepting walk-ins at the Pyramid House (address above) from 11am-12pm, only. There will be someone there (during that time only) to collect your $15 per person walk-in fee, so you can then take the bus to Camp Oakarro.  Walk-ins will not be accepted before or after that time or at camp...no exceptions.

CALLING ALL BOY SCOUT TROOPS: Do you need nights of camping or service hours? Volunteer at Boo Camp! Contact Emily Prymula for more details!

You won't want to miss our annual Halloween day camp! Join us this year for Boo Camp: Classic Movie Monsters! Boo Camp is open to all Cub Scouts, their families, and non-scout youth and families who want to see what Scouting is all about.

Boo Camp mixes Halloween fun with Scouting adventure.  Cub Scouts and their friends, family, dens, or packs can fish, travel a haunted trail, enjoy a hay ride, complete spooky STEM activities, visit a petting farm, shoot archery, and much more.  Boo Camp features 8-12 activities and new special guests each year.

Unique advancements not typically earned during the course of the Cub Scout year are offered, and portions of other activities may meet requirements for your Cub Scout's adventures.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION BEFORE REGISTERING.

  • Non-scout children and families are welcome! Please register children who are not currently in Scouts as as "sibling/other non-scout youth"

  • Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. As per BSA rules, Lions (Kindergartners) and Tigers (First Graders) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Pack or Dens that are attending Boo Camp together as a group should ensure they have adequate leadership to supervise their Scouts (we recommend at minimum a 1:4 ratio of adults to youth). Boo Camp is not a drop-off program. Youth should be supervised by a parent or adult leader at all times.
  • To avoid long lines and ensure the safety and enjoyment of all of our participants, your child will have the chance to shoot either archery OR BB guns at Boo Camp. This is in compliance with BSA national safety rules regarding the number of youth allowed on a range at any given time. As always, we will do our best to keep packs/dens in the same activity.

  • This year we will be offering light snacks for purchase such as chips, granola bars, cookies, fruit, soda, juice, and water. No full meals will be available, so please plan accordingly, OR you may bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the pavilion or on a section of the main lawn!

  • Due to the limited parking available at Camp Oakarro, guests will take a shuttle bus from THE PYRAMID HOUSE, 37921 N Dilleys Rd, Wadsworth, IL 60083 (about 5 minutes from Camp). If you require handicapped parking at Camp Oakarro, please contact Emily Prymula at emily.prymula@scouting.org
  • Please arrive at the Pyramid House at least 15-20 minutes before your session to check in. Buses depart both the school and camp every 15 minutes. We understand that life can be unpredictable, so if you do happen to be late for your session's bus, we will get you and your family on the next available bus.

  • Typically, families spend about 3 hours at Boo Camp. You may leave earlier than your scheduled session time, but we ask that you stick as close to your three hour time slot as possible. We want to ensure that every family that attends has an enjoyable Boo Camp experience, and part of this is ensuring a manageable capacity at all times.

  • All guests are encouraged to come in their best family friendly costume attire! Please avoid bringing toy weapons of any kind to camp.

  •  Be sure to dress according to the weather. Boo Camp has been 72 degrees in the past as well as 42.  If it rains, we get wet. Boo Camp will only be canceled or rescheduled in the event of severe weather.
