Wood Badge 2024
What is Wood Badge?
Wood Badge is an advanced national leadership course for scouting volunteers and professionals. Scouters from Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, Explorers, and district and council Scouters are all welcome to take the Wood Badge Course.
Participants attend five training days over two-weekend camping programs and a mid-course patrol meeting. Using what you’ve learned, you develop a “ticket” with a counselor and set goals to be completed over the 18 months following your course. Upon completing your ticket, you will receive the Wood Badge certificate, neckerchief, woggle, and beads at an appropriate public ceremony.
You must be a registered adult with the Boy Scouts of America, have completed the training requirements for your position, and have a current Annual Health Medical Record parts A, B & C.
If you need financial assistance, consider your unit’s budget for leadership development, your employer’s continuing education policies, or community organization memberships. You can also check with your district training chair for other possible resources.
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS COUNCIL UNITS: Use the Autofill button next to each participant spot to add names. If a name is not listed, use the Update Information button instead. Contact your Unit Leader if they should be on our list to ensure the participant is properly registered; include Debi Geiger or Sam Dummer in the email so they are informed of their BSA status.
PRE-COURSE MEETING: There will not be a pre-course meeting in 2024.
