Wilderness First Aid/CPR Training Campout
Brief Description of the Event
This course is for Scouts 14 years old and above as well as adults
The course will be taught during the weekend campout at Camp Crown and will include CPR Training. It will have opportunities for more hands-on learning scenarios for Wilderness First Aid Training.
Wilderness First Aid Training requires 16 hours of class work and hands-on training.
Pre-Course Requirements
- Required Pre-Camp Meeting: Thursday, March 19, 6 pm to 7 pm: This pre-camp meeting is required for all attendees at the Northeast Illinois Council Kasperson Center, 850 Forest Edge Dr, Vernon Hills, IL 60061
- Safeguarding Youth Training Required: All Adult Participants must provide their SYT Completion Date, and must be "current" (cannot be expired) at the time of the event.
- Bring a copy of your CPR Certificate if you only need WFA Training, or arrive in time to take CPR training at Camp Crown (see times below).
CPR TRAINING: CPR Training must be completed before participating in the Wilderness First Aid Course this weekend, so we will ask you if you have completed it yet when you register. You can obtain CPR Certification locally before the event. Please ask your unit leader.
- YES: If you say "Yes" to CPR Training, you must bring a copy of your certificate to turn in during the WFA Training Check-in times.
- NO: If you say "No" (have not taken CPR Training), you must arrive between 12 PM and 1 PM for CPR Training Check-in. If you are unable to participate in this course, DO NOT register for this weekend.
FRIDAY SCHEDULE:
- 12 pm to 1 pm: CPR Training Check-in at Camp Crown
- 1 pm to 8 pm: CPR Training (bring a sack meal for dinner)
- 5 pm to 7 pm: Wilderness First Aid Training Check-in at Camp Crown (bring sack meal for dinner if needed)
- 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm: WFA Opening Information Class (basic first aid)
- 8:15 pm: Lights Out
THE REST OF THE SCHEDULE WILL BE PROVIDED UPON CHECK-IN AT CAMP CROWN
BSA Required Training for High Adventure Activities: Units must have at least two participants with Wilderness First Training on the trek to ensure they are well-equipped to handle emergencies. This requirement can be met by youths or adults.
Those who have already completed Wilderness First Aid and CPR Training must show certification documents during check-in at Camp Crown.
