Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)
IOLS is a hands-on, outdoor-focused course that helps Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters feel confident leading Scouts in the outdoors. Registration for the Patrol Formation Meeting also registers you for the outdoor component at Camp Sol R. Crown.
Two dates needed to complete training
Patrol Formation Meeting
Wednesday, May 6, 2026, 7–9 p.m.
Kasperson Center for Scouting, Vernon Hills, Ill.
This meeting brings participants together, forms patrols and helps set the stage for a fun, well-organized outdoor experience.
Outdoor Component – Camp Crown
Friday–Sunday, May 15–17, 2026
Join fellow leaders for a weekend of learning by doing at Camp Sol R. Crown. This outdoor experience is designed for Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters and focuses on practical skills used on campouts and outdoor adventures. After completing this weekend and the Scoutmaster/assistant Scoutmaster–specific training (online or classroom), you will have completed the training needed for your position.
Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT): Please provide your SYT completion date and make sure your training is current (not expired) at the time of the event.
Note: Upon successful course completion, in-council members will be refunded.
A 3% processing fee applies to all online credit card payments. A 0.5% processing fee applies to all online e-check payments. Checks mailed or delivered to 850 Forest Edge Drive, Vernon Hills, IL 60061, are not subject to a processing fee. Please include your registration number on the check’s memo line.
