Summer Camp Brotherhood Induction

Want to complete your Brotherhood Membership in Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Lodge 40 while at Summer Camp? Below is all the information you will need.

Prerequisites

1. Be an Ordeal Member of our Lodge for at least 6 months. 
2. Be actively registered in Scouting America. 
3. Have paid your OA dues for the current year. 

How Do I Check If I Am Dues Paid?

You can use your OA LodgeMaster Portal account to check your dues status, print your membership card, and update your contact information. Don't have a Portal Account or can't remember the login? Please send email to membership@lodge40.org and membership.adviser@lodge40.org.

Brotherhood Induction Costs

The cost of Brotherhood is $25. Remember that in addition your current years dues must be paid as well. 

When Is the Brotherhood Ceremony?

The Brotherhood Ceremony will take place on Wednesday evening of your summer camp week. The exact time to meet will be messaged in the Dining Halls, Mug Clubs, and the weekly OA Meeting on Monday. 

Steps to Complete Brotherhood

1. Sign up for Brotherhood including paying the Brotherhood fee and, if not already paid, this year's OA Dues. 
2. Write a letter to the Lodge Secretary containing the following. 
   • Explain in your own words what you think the Obligation means.
   • Describe how you have been fulfilling this Obligation in your unit and in your daily life, and how you have used your understanding of the Ordeal to aid in this service.
   • Describe your specific plans for continuing this service in the future to your Unit, to Scouting, and to the Lodge.
   • Tell what the Order of the Arrow means to you, and why you are seeking Brotherhood membership.
3. Learn about the customs and traditions of the OA. Note: A Brotherhood Letter and Study Guide is available online. The link to this document is found in your emails from LodgeMaster reminding you of your Brotherhood eligibility. The link may also be found when you go through your Induction journey using the OA LodgeMaster Portal. Last, you can request a copy of this document from the Lodge Officers or Inductions. 4. Take part in the Brotherhood Ceremony. The time and location to meet will be messaged in the Dining Halls, and Mug Clubs, and the weekly OA Meeting on Monday while at Summer Camp.
