Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan High Adventure Treks

Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation is proud to be a Nationally-Accredited High Adventure Base. Your Unit can take in the vistas on foot at one of our backpacking destinations, paddle through the cool water on one of our kayaking or canoe treks, or relax on sailboats in Lake Superior. We'll also offer more provisional treks for the Youth in your units...now called Individual Treks. See below for details. If you don’t see a trek that you like, contact the camp staff about a custom itinerary.
We also offer in-camp day trips (that are designed to complement your stay at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan) or adventures outside of the regular camp program.
HOW TO REGISTER: Contact the trek staff to see if the High Adventure you want is available during your preferred week. Once confirmed, submit an MSR High Adventure Request Form-2021 with the appropriate fees. This is a non-refundable fee, that is required to help cover the cost of permits and other items. None of it will be applied toward registration fees or additional fees accrued during your trek. Once the form and payment are received at the council office, your trek contact (listed on the form) receives your trek-specific password and other online registration information.
PPE Surcharge: To ensure we are well equipped for COVID-19 in 2021, we have added a $15 PPE Surcharge that must be selected when you register each participant.
2021 High Adventure Treks can begin as early as June 12 or 13, with the last week's treks ending as late as August 7.
