Wilderness First Aid/CPR Training Campout

Event Details

This course is open to Scouts ages 14 and older and adults. Participants will learn hands-on life-saving skills during a weekend campout at Camp Sol R. Crown, including Wilderness First Aid scenarios.

CPR training is included for those who have not already been certified.

Wilderness First Aid training consists of 16 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on practice.

NEW! In-council adult fees will be refunded upon successful completion of the course.

Pre-Course Requirements

  • Pre-Camp Meeting: Thursday, April 9, 67 p.m.: This meeting is required for all WFA course participants at the NEIC Kasperson Center, 850 Forest Edge Dr, Vernon Hills, IL 60061
  • Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT): Adults, please provide your SYT completion date, and make sure your training is current (not expired) by the time of the event.
  • Bring a copy of your CPR certificate if you only need Wilderness First Aid training. If you still need CPR certification, plan to arrive in time to take CPR training at Camp Crown (see times below).

CPR TRAINING: To get the most out of the Wilderness First Aid course, we ask that all participants complete CPR training before the weekend. During registration, we'll ask whether you've already completed it. If you haven’t, no problem—you can obtain CPR certification locally before the event. Please reach out to your unit leader if you need guidance. Alternatively, you can take CPR training at Camp Crown earlier in the day on Friday.

  • YES: If you answer "Yes" during registration, please bring a copy of your CPR certificate to check in at WFA.
  • NO: If you answer "No," plan to arrive between noon and 1 p.m. Friday for check-in at Camp Crown—or you can complete CPR training locally before the event. Either way, if you are not CPR certified before the start of WFA training, please wait to register for another weekend.

Friday Schedule (Camp Sol R. Crown)

  • Noon–1 p.m.: CPR training check-in
  • 1–8 p.m.: CPR training (bring a sack meal for dinner)

  • 8:15 p.m.: Lights out

We’ll share the rest of the weekend schedule when you check in.
