Pioneering Kit Training

Join us for Pioneering Kit Training Day
Camp Crown, 11651 304th Ave, Trevor, Wisconsin 53179
Pioneering—The knowledge of ropes, knots, and splices along with the ability to build rustic structures by lashing together poles and spars—is among the oldest of Scouting’s skills. Practicing rope use and completing projects with lashings also allow Scouts to connect with past generations, ancestors who used many of these skills as they sailed the open seas and lived in America’s forests and prairies.
Pioneering Kit Training qualifies you to use the Pioneering Kit with your troop or crew while camping at Camp Crown.
Please bring lunch and a water bottle.
Once you complete the training, you can contact the council office to reserve the Kit. They will be provided with a list of all newly-trained adults.
Good news for in-council members: the fee will be refunded once the course is successfully completed.
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS COUNCIL UNITS: Use the Autofill button next to each participant spot to add names. If a name is not listed, use the Update Information button instead. Contact your unit leader if they should be on our list to ensure the participant is properly registered; include Debi Geiger in the email so she is informed of their BSA status.
AFTER COMPLETING THE TRAINING: Steps to Reserve the Pioneering Kit for your Unit:
- Contact the council Program Assistant: Debi.Geiger@scouting.org. Tell her your troop number, the name of the trained adult who will be in attendance, and the date you want to reserve it (provide a second date, if at all possible).
- She will let you know if it is available one of those weekends, or if you need to provide another date.
- Once a date is confirmed, complete a camping reservation for Camp Crown: CampReservation.com/129/Camps/745. You must reserve at least one campsite to use it.
- Email Debi when you complete the reservation, so she can add the Pioneering Kit to your reservation. She will let you know when she's finished.
- Show up at camp ready to work, learn, and have fun!
