Pre-course preparation

  • Print and complete requirements 1 and 2, Section B from the workbook and bring your filled copy to check in.
  • Using Scoutbook (recommended)? Assign Matt Maj (mmaj1999@yahoo.com) as your rifle merit badge counselor ahead of time if possible.

Class structure

  • We’ll start the day with a safety briefing—please arrive on time so we can get started together.
  • Scouts will be split into two groups: one group will do bookwork while the other practices shooting and cleaning. Groups will rotate to complete all requirements.
  • Participants can finish their merit badge requirements before the 1:30 p.m. end time; if finished early, the extra time can be used for more shooting fun!

Participant limits

  • We have five lanes, with five shooters at a time, rotating with others.
  • If fewer than 20 sign up, each Scout will get more time on the range.
