Cubmobile

Event Details

WHY RACE? Because it's FUN!

The premise of Cubmobile is classic Scouting fun at its finest: your Cub Scout Den builds a soapbox derby-style car that the Cub Scout can drive. Then they race it as many times as possible during their time slot!

Win some, lose some. What could be better? Cars race two at a time, as often as time allows, on a closed, gently sloped course at the Caboose Park in Lake Villa.  It’s a great way to spend a spring day with your Pack.

PLEASE DOWNLOAD the Cubmobile Construction Rules and Review them before you begin.

  • We recommend that each den build its own Cubmobile. Building and painting your car(s) is a great team activity
  •  Building can be performed outdoors and allows for distance between den members. Cubmobiles can be as simple or spectacular as your den wishes, but they MUST have a seat, 3 or 4-point seat belt harness, brakes, a floorboard to prevent feet from touching the ground,
  • Include a steering mechanism and a backrest 3 inches higher than your tallest scout. Please read all rules and regulations to keep our Scouts safe.

NORTHEAST ILLINOIS COUNCIL UNITS: Use the Autofill button next to each participant spot to add names. If a name is not listed, use the Update Information button instead. Contact your Unit Leader if they should be on our list to ensure the participant is properly registered; include Debi Geiger or Sam Dummer in the email so they are informed of their BSA status.

SESSION INFORMATION:

  • Race Sessions are scheduled every 60 minutes, allowing up to 50 minutes of racing and 10 minutes of setup, with a maximum of 20 Cub Scouts per session.
  • Each Scout MUST wear a helmet.  No Helmet, no ride. NO EXCEPTIONS. We do not provide helmets, so please bring your own.
  • Please see the event download for more rules and car specifications. All Councils do not have the same Cub Mobile specifications, so please check your cars against our specs. We reserve the right not to allow a car to race for safety reasons.
  • All cars will be inspected to meet racing safety specs.
