Conservation Camporee

Join us for the Conservation Camporee.

Get your Basic Conservation Training, including Leave No Trace

Interested in the Distinguished Conservation Award? This camporee is a great place to start.

Will you survive the Patrol Conservation Challenge? With a little luck, we might even have an inter-Council Challenge

ALL ATTENDEES - Be Prepared - Please bring the following to this event:

  • BSA Medical Form Parts A and B are required to participate - See Attachments for the link to the most current version and instructions
  • Work Clothes - There will be a conservation service project opportunity.
  • Work Gloves (canvas or leather work best)
  • Usual Camping Gear: Tent, Sleeping Bag, Flashlight, Water Bottle, Mess Kit, Rain Gear, Field Uniform (aka Class A)
  • Meals - Each Unit is responsible for its own meal plan and cooking, conservation-style.

Description of Activities - The following activities will be available:

  • Several Merit Badges that are needed for the award
  • Leave No Trace Training for Scouts and Adults - Leave No Trace Basics (D74)
  • Outdoor Ethics Guide Orientation for Scouts and Adults (Youth - S110 // Adults – S111)
  • Basic Conservation Training for Scouts and Adults
  • Distinguished Conservation Award Intro Discussion for Scouts and Venture Scouts
  • Venturing Crew activities (TBD)
  • Lake County Forest Preserve Presentation on plans, goals, and how we make a difference, including with Eagle Scout Projects
  • Service Project

SCOUT COST

  • $30 - If registered and paid in full by September 30, 2025
  • $40 - Starting October 1, 2025

ADULT COST

  • $0 for accompanying unit leaders
  • $10 if attending the Outdoor Ethics Guide and Leave No Trace Basics training to cover materials.

CAMPSITES: Campsites will be assigned at Check-in (the day of the event) based on your Unit's registration numbers, special needs (physical limitations), etc. Contact us regarding special needs or campsite preferences (will be honored if possible).

MEALS: Units are responsible for cooking their meals. Keep conservation principles in mind for cooking (Hint).

    TRAINING: Outdoor Ethics Guide and Leave No Trace Basics Training (with training certificate)

    MERIT BADGES. Please indicate your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices.

    The assignment will be based on availability and class size.

    Scouts - You can choose up to 3 classes, each lasting 3 to 4 hours
