Leave No Trace Level 1

9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Saturday April 25 & Sunday April 26

Registration begins at 8:00 Saturday morning

The Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course will provide 18 years and older Scouters that successfully complete Course requirements with a Certification as Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor for Scouting America and the Leave No Trace organization (www.LNT.org). This course is available to volunteers 18 years and older:  Scouters; Venturing Adult Advisors; Committee Members; Unit Commissioners;  and any registered adults that camp with their Units or serve as summer camp staff. Scouters holding this Certification can use this to train both non-scouting and scouting audiences in the 7 Principles of LNT and the ways these can be applied to protecting our natural resources. This course will meet Scouting America’s LNT National Camp Standards, develop, and expand the knowledge of Leave No trace principles and skills and the ways they support ethical decisions in planning and completing all outdoor activities, and will complete requirement #5 of the Outdoor Ethics Awareness Award.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to teach the Scouting America Leave No Trace Basics course and to qualify individuals for the Scouting America Leave No Trace Basics Card.

Participants must be 18 years or older to participate in this course

Overnight camping may be available - please reach out to SWesseln@gmail.com to explore the options.  Youth Protection must be adhered to on camp property.  If camping is approved, participants will be responsible for all of their own food.

All Participants must bring a lunch for both days.  For Saturday, participants will bring a traditional sack lunch.  For Sunday, participants will be cooking on backpacking stoves.  Trail meals are suggested for Sunday lunch so everyone can practice packing in, cleaning up and packing out lunch materials.  More information to follow for registrants.
