Chippewa Bonus Training

Event Details

Chippewa is hosting a FREE *Bonus* Training Day in support of our Units!

Registered Chippewa Volunteers and Youth are invited to reserve their space for ONE of the classes below. Please note that the classes being offered are for our adult volunteers and older Scouts (i.e., Scouts BSA and Venturing). There will be a break (s) within the individual sessions at the facilitators' discretion.

8:45am Check-In / Welcome | 9am Classes Start | 1pm Classes End

1.  Conflict Resolution: This NEW Training is being offered by one of our Commissioners for our Adult Volunteers and older Scouts.  This class will demonstrate best practices on dealing with conflicts that might arise. While there will be important information within this session there will also be a small group activity to help practice what you have learned.

2.  Cultivating an Atmosphere of Belonging:  This DEI/Recruiting/Marketing Membership Hybrid class offers information, support/resources, and starts the discussion on best practices for our Units. We are offering this for our Adult Volunteers & older youth (Scouts BSA or Venturing). The goal is to help all our Units work on building and maintaining a more welcoming environment.  As we shift into Spring Recruitment, we are looking at things a little different. Please note that this class will include a panel discussion with Staff and Council/District Committee Members at its conclusion. Please bring your questions!

3.  Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops/ILST:  All Scouts in Scouts BSA are invited to participate in this class. This class aims to help Scouts at the Troop level to improve their leadership skills. Please note that this is a requirement for NYLT. So, if you are hoping to go this June, make sure you have taken ILST. Games, fun, leadership, and important information to help Scouts work on developing their Leadership styles!

4.  Senior Patrol Leader/Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Training: First Class Scouts and above are invited to join this class. This supplemental training introduces current SPLs and ASPLs – and those who aspire to these positions – to the “nuts and bolts” of troop operations in their units. The syllabus draws from existing training materials for SPLs and other sources. It is supplemental and not designed to replace any existing training. Let us help you be prepared for leading and supporting your Troop!
