FF: District Wizard Academy Camporee

Date: May 17th to May 19th, 2019

Location: Oakhurst Forest Preserve 1680 Fifth Ave, Aurora, IL 60504

(Approx 0.6 miles east of Farnsworth Ave.)

Camping Fee: $15 per person. (Includes entry to Wizard Academy)

Program: The Wizard Academy will be held in downtown Aurora. Scouts attending the Wizard Academy can complete requirements for the Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge as well as earn a patch and wand. Food trucks will have food  available for sale by Sci-Tech or you may plan your own lunch. Transportation from the campsite to the event and back for participants will be the Unit's responsibility. The Buddy system is strongly encouraged. It is suggested that at least one adult stay to watch your campsite. If a scout is in camp BSA two deep leadership is required.

Saturday evening there will be a Campfire held at Oakhurst Forest Preserve. Each Unit is asked to provide one skit and one song. There will be an Order of the Arrow Call out ceremony for newly elected Ordeal Candidates.

Check-in will be Friday night 6-7pm.

Scoutmaster/ SPL Cracker Barrel will be Friday night at 8:30pm.

The Spring Camporee will have camping at Oakhurst Forest Preserve. Pit toilets and porta-potties will be provided for your relief. You may bring your own wood for fires but all fires must be in ash pans off the ground. Due to the time of year Kane County Forest Preserve may not have water sources open yet. Please plan to bring water for your unit unless notified otherwise. All trailers and vehicles will need to be parked in the marked lots or other designated areas.

Check-out will be by Noon on Sunday.

If you are looking for the Wizards Academy, an interactive Disability Awareness event for Scouts and the Community themed to Wizard's. You will have the opportunity to work on Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge, Awareness Adventures and learn about disability awareness.
