Scout Mahalo 2017 DCD
2017 HAWAII’S DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN DINNER (DCD)
“Scout Mahalo” Project
The Distinguished Citizen Dinner is Aloha Council’s biggest fundraising event for our Scouting program. The Hawaii’s Distinguished Citizen Award honors the individual whose leadership in business, industry, government, education, involvement in Boy Scouting and other community endeavors has contributed significantly to the growth and vitality of Hawaii.
Scout Mahalo was introduced to this dinner 16 years ago and is a tradition that engages both our Scouts and our Scout supporters. Scouts thank guests for their support and guests meet the wonderful youth that are part of our program. The Mahalo consist of Scouts lining up along the pathway to the ballroom in an “honor guard”-type salute welcoming guests to the event. Later, at the opening of the dinner, Scouts thank guests at each table and offer the Scout left-handshake and say “Thank you for your support of Scouting”.
