Maui Nui - Scout Fun Day and Pinewood Derby
The annual Maui Nui District Pinewood Derby
The races are open to all cub scouts, Scouts BSA, siblings and adults.
(3) Race classes:
- Cub Scout: racers are all cub scouts competing together
- Open Class: mix of siblings, Scouts BSA, adults = follows all pinewood derby rules
- Outlaw Class: mix of siblings, Scouts BSA, adults, and cub scouts if they enter a 2nd car = modification class
Race fee: $5 per car – all participants
Race Recognition: Cub Scout class – trophies for placement 1-3 for all ranks (Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, and Webelos); Open and Outlaw class – trophy for 1st place.
Design and Build Recognition: cars will be judged on “the look” of their car also! Ie. Best Paint, Most Patriotic, Most Humorous, and more categories to qualify for.

Pre-registration required for all cars. February 27 (Thursday) 4pm – 6pm or February 28 (Friday) 8am – 4pm = at the Scout office in Wailuku. Pay fees and check in your cars. Not able to make during those times? Packs can arrange for one representative to check in cars for their den or Pack. Just make sure forms are filled out completely when turning in and that if there are any adjustments they are authorized to do so at the time of check in.
Scouts come in your field uniform (class a) and all others please wear your unit activity shirt if possible. Closed toe shoes as well. If anyone isn’t feeling since we will be indoors please do not attend. We will take lots of pictures to so you won’t miss out.
