Polaris 2026: The Winter Adventure

Camp Thunder presents the winter adventure: WINTER CAMP 2026: LEGEND ON THE YETI
Nestled between the pristine Flint River and historic Pine Mountain in Georgia, Winter Camp 2026 is a new brand of winter camp — and this year, something else is out there with us.
Locals have talked about it for generations: broad tracks in the frost along the river bottom, a shape moving through the pines at the edge of the firelight, a sound that isn't a coyote. Most folks laugh it off. Then they spend a December night at Camp Thunder.
Winter Camp 2026: Legend on the Yeti brings Scouts together for four days of merit badges, brotherhood, and cold-weather adventure — wrapped in a camp-wide legend that unfolds a little more each night. Track it. Test yourself against it. Earn your place in the story.
THE LEGEND
Every night of camp, another piece of the legend comes to light — a discovered artifact, a rangers' report, an eyewitness account. Troops collect evidence across the week, and the units that put the pieces together first are honored at the closing campfire.
DATES
December 19 – December 22
Daily schedule subject to change.
ADULT REGISTRATION — IMPORTANT
ALL adults who are camping must provide the camping department with their BSA Membership ID by December 15, 2024. Failure to provide this information will result in those adults not being able to camp with his or her troop.
BSA national policy states that ALL adults or parents who are camping for longer than 72 hours must be a registered member with Scouts and possess current Youth Protection Training.
CALLING ALL MERIT BADGE COUNSELORS
Winter Camp runs on the adults who step up to teach. Merit badges are the heart of this week, and we need counselors to make the schedule happen — your expertise is what turns a class into an experience a Scout remembers.
Teach a merit badge, camp free. Any adult who serves as a merit badge counselor for the week attends Winter Camp 2026 at no cost — your fee is waived entirely, and the slot does not count against your troop's two free adults.
How it works: Review the merit badges offered at Winter Camp in the program guide, pick the badge or badges you're able to teach, and let us know. We'll handle the classroom, the schedule, and the Scouts — you bring the expertise.
