Calling All New and Returning Scouts

Whether you're just beginning your Scouting journey or working toward your next rank or merit badge, Scout Skills Weekend has something for everyone. Join us for a weekend of learning, adventure, and fun!

What's Included

Registration includes all meals and program materials. Youth participants receive a commemorative event T-shirt and patch. Adults may purchase an event shirt during registration.

Camping & Meals

Participants will camp in assigned campsites and should bring their own tent or hammock, camping gear, mess kit, reusable water bottle, and hot beverage cup. All meals are provided. Please list any dietary restrictions during registration so we can accommodate your needs whenever possible.

Program

New Scouts: First-Year Scout Skills

New Scouts will work in patrols to learn essential Scouting skills, including knife, axe & saw safety, knots and pioneering, orienteering, first aid, nature, citizenship, and more. This program is recommended for Scouts who have not attended a first-year summer camp program and covers many requirements for the Tenderfoot through First Class ranks.

Returning Scouts: Merit Badges

Scouts who have completed the First-Year Scout Skills program may enroll in up to three merit badge classes (some require multiple class periods).

Available merit badge programs include:

• Range & Target: Rifle, Shotgun, or Archery (one full-weekend class only; additional qualification may be required at a future RATA Day or with an approved Merit Badge Counselor)
• Trade Skills: Painting, Plumbing, Automotive Maintenance, Home Repairs, Welding, and Composite Materials
• STEM: Artificial Intelligence, Astronomy, Chess, Digital Technology, Engineering, and Robotics
• Eagle-Required: Communication and Swimming completion class (The Swimming completion class is designed for Scouts who have already completed most of the merit badge requirements and need help finishing the remaining requirements.)

Adult Leaders

Troops are encouraged to send adult leaders to participate alongside their Scouts by providing supervision, assisting with safety, and supporting the program throughout the weekend.

All adults who are planning to attend Scout Skills Weekend MUST be an active registered adult leader with Scouting America.  You can locate your status on your My.Scouting.Org account under "Registrations"

Volunteer Staff

Scouts who are First Class or higher are invited to volunteer for the weekend. Volunteers receive meals, camping nights, and service hours.  There will be staff developments prior to the Scout Skills event.  More information to follow.

Adult Chaperone Certification Upload
For adults who are attending for the weekend, please upload your form: BSA Safeguarding Youth Training within the past year.  If you have CPR or other certifications, you can upload them as well.

Cancellation and refund policy

• Final payments and attendance numbers are due by: August 28
• No subtractions to registration numbers after this deadline.
• Refund policy is as follows
• 100% refund: When cancellation is made 14 days prior to event
• No refund/refund at council discretion: When cancellation is made within 13 days of event.
• All cancellations or requests for refund must be submitted via email to christopher.derose@scouting.org
• Cancellations and refund requests cannot be accepted over the phone.
