COURSE OVERVIEW
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. BALOO training has an online component and a practical, hands-on component.
At the end of this training, you will have the tools and confidence to plan and carry out an outdoor experience for the pack!
PREREQUISITES
All participants must complete the following courses online (http://my.scouting.org) before attending:
- Safeguarding Youth (90 minutes)
- BALOO Prerequisite Training v2 (35 minutes)
DATES
Fall Session will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2025 through Sunday, October 5th, 2025.
Spring Session will be held Friday, March 20th, 2026 through Sunday, March 22nd, 2026.
Class starts promptly at 9:30 AM Saturday and graduation is at 11:00AM on Sunday. Camping on Friday night is not required, but it is available for those wishing to do so.
PACKING LIST
- Current BSA Health and Medical Form—Parts A and B (Found Here)
- Cub Scout Handbook
- Full Class A Uniform and Class B / Utility Uniform
- Camping Essentials: Pocket Knife, First Aid Kit, Rain Gear, Water Bottle, Flashlight, Matches, Map and Compass, Tent, Ground Cloth, Sleeping Bag, and Sleeping Pad.
- Mess Kit: Knife, Fork, Spoon, Plate, Bowl, Cup.
- Hygiene Kit: Soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Washcloth, Towel, etc.
- Personal Extras: Folding Chair, Watch, Pens or Pencils, Notebook, Sunglasses, Seasonal Clothing.
