Event Details

FEBRUARY SCOUTING FOR FOOD INSTRUCTIONS

 

Disclaimer: WE CANNOT ACCEPT previously opened containers, repackaged and homemade

items, outdated products, or perishables - i.e. breads, pies, cakes, produce, meat(fresh or frozen),
items in glass. When choosing food to donate, kindly consider the nutrient value so that our
children, adults and seniors are receiving healthy and nutritious meals year round.

Target Food: Canned Protein (Tuna, Chicken, Ect.)

Weekend 1 — Bag/Door Hanger Drop-Off

Saturday, February 21
8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

What to Do:

  • Scouts and families distribute bags or door hangers throughout their assigned neighborhoods.
  • Make sure each home receives one bag/hanger with instructions for food collection.
  • Be courteous, stay on sidewalks, and do not place anything inside mailboxes.
  • Wear Class A uniform or pack/troop T-shirt for visibility.
  • Work in pairs or groups with adult supervision.

Weekend 2 — Food Collection & Delivery

Saturday, February 28
Collection: 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Drop-off at Feeding the Valley: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

What to Do:

  • Return to the same houses where bags/hangers were delivered.
  • Pick up any donated food left outside the door.
  • Thank donors when possible and leave a “Thank You” note if available.
  • Sort food into sturdy boxes or bags in your vehicles.

Deliver all collected donations to:

Feeding the Valley Food Bank; 6744 Flat Rock Rd, Midland, GA 31820
Drop-Off Window: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

 

SEPTEMBER SCOUTING FOR FOOD INSTRUCTIONS

Weekend 1 — Bag/Door Hanger Drop-Off

Saturday, September 12
8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

What to Do:

  • Distribute bags or door hangers across your assigned area.
  • Avoid placing items in mailboxes per USPS rules.
  • Maintain safety, stay in groups, and follow all walking and traffic rules.
  • Wear uniform or unit T-shirt to represent Scouting in the community.

Weekend 2 — Food Collection & Delivery

Saturday, September 19
Collection: 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Drop-off at Feeding the Valley: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

What to Do:

  • Revisit the same homes where you dropped off bags/hangers.
  • Collect all donated food and load it safely into vehicles.

Deliver sorted items to:

Feeding the Valley Food Bank, 6744 Flat Rock Rd, Midland, GA 31820
Drop-Off Window: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

 

Suggested Items to Collect

  • Canned meats (chicken, tuna, beef stew)
  • Peanut butter
  • Pasta & rice
  • Canned fruits & vegetables
  • Cereal & oatmeal
  • Boxed meals
  • Shelf-stable juice

Safety Guidelines

  • Always have two-deep leadership and follow Scouting youth protection policies.
  • Stay in pairs or groups—no Scout goes alone.
  • Remain alert near roads and driveways.
  • Hydrate, wear comfortable shoes, and take breaks as needed.
  • Do not enter any home for any reason.
