QUEST FOR TRAINING

BALOO and IOLS trainings will also be offered this weekend. If you have a Scouts BSA son or dauhter, have them join the Quest for Tenderfoot while you take either BALOO or IOLS training.

The Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) training is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. It is comprised of two components—an online component and a practical, hands-on component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a “TRAINED” Cub Scout outdoor leader. The online component must be completed prior to the practical component. The online training contains introductory and basic information that will be built upon during the practical training.

The Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) course builds and expands on the concepts and themes introduced in Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training Position-Specific Training, and provides Scouters with the confidence to take youth into the outdoors. Specifically, this hands-on program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. In addition, the teaching methods, activities, and games model the variety of teaching used in effective and engaging Scouting programs.

Specifics for BALOO and IOLS will also be attached here soon as well as found on the Fort Brooke District facebook group.
