2021 Kodiak
Kodiak Challenge
Date: July 12-16, 2021
Location: Flaming Arrow Scout Reservation
Cost: $250
What is Kodiak? Kodiak is designed to be an adventure that pushes the boundaries of every participant—one that will encourage you to try new things that may be out of your comfort zone. It is not classroom delivery. The Kodiak experience allows you to grow as a leader during an adventure that tests you mentally and physically. Still, at the heart of Kodiak is the application of leadership skills you learned in the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops/Crews/Ships (ILST/C/S) and National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT). Each day there is an activity designed to showcase one or more of these BSA leadership skills.
Participants will meet via Zoom on June 12th to plan their week. Possible options include: archery, astronomy, birding, canoeing, climbing/rappelling, conservation, fishing, geochaching, hiking, high cope, kayaking, low cope, nature photography, night cope, night rappelling, orienteering, rifle, shotgun, and swimming.
To attend, you must be registered as a youth or unit participant with Scouts BSA, a Venturing Crew, or a Sea Scout Ship; be between 14-21 years old; have completed the 8th grade; and have completed ILST/C/S. Prior attendance at NYLT is highly recommended, but not required.
We will also meet again through Zoom on July 31st to review the course and get your reflections.
