IOLS Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) – is a one-and-a-half-day hands-on course providing adult leaders with the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors.
Participants will learn first-hand about selecting a campsite, pitching a tent, hiking, outdoor cooking, first aid and leave-no-trace principles.
Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First-Class rank.
In conjunction with Scoutmaster Position Specifics training, this course is required for all direct contact leaders registered in Scouts BSA Troops in order to be considered “trained”.
All participants must bring a current copy of the BSA Annual Health Medical Form Parts A & B. You can download a current copy here: BSA Health Form
