NRA Black Powder Training 

Become a part of the team that helps deliver shooting sports to our Scouts!  

A current NRA instructor who is on the Council Approved Shooting Sports Instriuctor list and current NRA Range Safety Officers (RSO)s are required for a unit to open a shooting sports range at a council property.   For more details visit: https://tampabayscouting.org/camps/camp-facilities-usage.  

All participants must agree to assist the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, or their home council, by staffing at least 2 Council or District shooting sports events per year for the next 2 years.   

Knowing how to shoot is an important requirement for NRA instructors, but you will also need to know how to teach others to shoot. NRA Instructor Training Courses help you develop the additional knowledge, skills and attitude needed to organize and teach others.

Location: Sand Hill Scout Reservation

Session Dates:

Friday May 5th - Sunday May 7th

Friday May 19th - Sunday May 21st

Time: Friday 7:00 PM - Sunday 4:30 PM 

Cost: $375 for GTBAC Scouters,

Early Bird Pricing ends 4/7. Registration closes 4/21

$425 for Out of Council Scouters.

Important Notes:

• Registration deadline is two weeks before the course
• No walkups allowed
• Course size is limited, so register early to guarantee your space
• All participants must be currently registered with the BSA
• All firearms and ammunition are provided.  You may NOT bring your own firearms.
• This is for current RSO trainined individuals (rifle and shotgun are pre-requsities)
