Become a Level 1 Climbing Instructor!

Under the supervision of a Level 2 Climbing Instructor, Level 1 Climbing Instructors can teach Climbing Merit Badge, and instruct youth in climbing and rappelling on the council climbing towers under the BSA program.

It's a great way to learn about climbing and conducting youth group climbing events, improve your rigging and climbing skills, and serve the community by introducing youth to a challenging sport.

You must be 18 to be carded as a Level 1 Climbing Instructor, but youth 16 and over can be carded as a Level 1 Instructor in Training.  This training needs to be renewed annually.

Cost: $25 - includes meals and campsite. 

Class runs :
Friday Night 7:00 -10:00 PM
Saturday 9:00 AM -9:00 PM 
Sunday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM 

COVID Information

Council event attendees, including participants and staff, are required to comply with the Council's current COVID protocols. Failure to do so will result in removal from Council properties and/or events and forfeiture of event registration fees.

All participants must submit a pre-medical event checklist and waiver upon entry, All participants will be health screened upon entry.

All Participants must bring a current BSA Medical form (download here).

In the case of a positive COVID result among participants at an event, GTBAC will follow the guidance of the local Health Department, which may include cancellation or closure of the event or facility.
