Wood Badge is designed to meet the advanced leadership needs of all Scouters, particularly unit-level Scouters, such as Cub Scout leaders, Scoutmasters and assistants, Venturing Crew Advisors, Committee Chairs, and members. Additionally, Scouters serving at the District and Council levels can achieve greater effectiveness through Wood Badge.

WHY ATTEND?

By taking Wood Badge, Scouters will acquire valuable tools such as listening, communicating, conflict management, project planning, and leading change.  Participants will better learn to understand and appreciate diversity and differences in our society.  They will learn skills that will make them a better Scout leader.  Units with trained leaders can deliver an improved program and a more meaningful experience for the youth Scouting serves.  By attending Wood Badge, participants will internalize the FIVE central themes of Wood Badge:

COURSE INFORMATION

WEEKEND 1: February 5 - 7, 2026 @ Tanah Keeta Scout Reservation Course begins in the Parking Lot at Tanah Keeta at 7:30 am on Friday, February 7, 2027 and ends no later than 5:00 pm on Sunday, February 7, 2027.

WEEKEND 2: March 12 - 14, 2027 @ Camp Oklawaha The camp has been reserved for Friday, March 12, 2027, so patrols can set up campsites beginning at 6:00 PM on Friday evening and be in place for Weekend 2 on Saturday morning. Weekend 2 begins in the Parking Lot at Camp Oklawaha at 7:30 am on March 13, 2027 and ends no later than 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 14, 2027.

*Registration for this event includes both weekends. Participants must attend both weekends in order to complete the course.

PARTICIPANT FEES

Early Bird $300 until November 23rd, 2026

On-Time $325 November 24th, 2026 – January 15th, 2027

Last Chance $350 January 16th - January 29th, 2027

Staff (Adult) $175 until January 29th, 2027 (must be approved by Tom Vickers)

Staff (Youth)  $25 until March 8th, 2027 (must be approved by Tom Vickers)

*A $50 non-refundable minimum deposit is due to reserve your participant spot.

GILWELL SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIPS

COURSE SIZE

The course will consist of not less than 32 and not more than 56 participants and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  The first 48 participants with all fees paid will be in the course.  Other fully paid candidates will be placed on a waiting list.
