Eagle Empire Trailblazer Weekend Scout BSA Troop for Girls

Event Details

Join us on February 1st when we officially kick off Scout BSA Troops for Girls with a Trailblazing weekend! This camp out will focus on bringing our new Scouts up to speed. Sessions include, Tote'n chit, Fireman chit, Cooking, Camping skills, campfire, and more! 

When: February 1st- 3rd check in starting at 5:30 pm

Where: Camp Joy @ Kelly Park 5303 Baptist Camp Rd, Apopka, FL 32712

Who: New Scout BSA Troop for Girls members in 5th grade- 12th grade

Cost: $26 for the camp out which includes food! (must be a registered scout, registration fees for the 2019 year are $44 and can be paid through this link)

Packing list: 

Generally accepted plan for this type of camping is that you should have three bundles of gear: 

 

1. Personal gear/ duffel bag or backpack 

2. Sleeping gear- sleeping bag/ pad and pillow 

3. Camp Chair 

 

 

Personal Gear

Clothes Bag

Polypropylene long sleeved shirt 

Troop or BSA t-shirts (non logo’d shirts can work also) (2 ea) 

Scout long pants or scout shorts 

Fleece sweater 

Fleece Beanie Hat 

Underwear (2 pair min) 

Socks (2 pair min) 

Bandana 

Windproof jacket 

Medication (must be with adult leaders and identified in medical form)

 

Toilet Kit

Body towl, hand towel, face cloth 

Soap & container 

Shampoo 

Flip flops if showering

Tooth brush & tooth paste 

Small roll toilet paper 

Geminine hygiene products (ziploc bag to store)

Comb/brush

Hair ties (hair bak around campfire) 

Small mirror (optional, most restrooms don’t have mirrors) 

 

Personal Eating Kit

Lexan or titanium spork 

A large plastic bowl/plate 

Mug (cocoa, tea, coffee type) with handle

Small, draw string laundry bag (like delicate laundry bag for air drying dishes) 

 

 

Easy to access or top pockets of your pack or duffle bag:

1 quart wide mouth Nalgene water bottle (2 ea) or camelbak type water bladder

Sun screen 

Rain gear (no ponchos) 

Small personal first aid kit 

Repair kit (sewing) 

2 pairs extra socks 

Bug spray

 

Wearing or in your pockets:

Wide brim hat 

Watch 

Compass 

Whistle 

Small headlamp (2-3 “AA” batteries at most)/ flashlight

Lip balm 

Sunglasses 

Tissues 

Appropriate footwear (waterproof, lightweight hiking boots, or closed toed sneakers)

Wallet with medical card 

 

Sleeping Bundle

Sleeping pad (optional)

Sleeping bag in waterproof compression bag 

Nylon shorts, fresh underwear, socks and sleeping t-shirt inside sleeping bag 

Pillow

Electronic devices such as Phones, MP3 players, gaming devices, etc, may be brought along for travel time, but they must be left in the vehicles once we arrive at camp, and they are the responsibility of the Scout.
