Spring 2019 Course S4-83-19-1

There are two opportunities to take Wood Badge:

Spring 2019: Feb. 22 – 24 & Mar. 15-17

Joplin, Course Director

 Fall 2019: TBD

Come one, Come all! Cub Scout Leaders, Boy Scout, Leaders Venturing Leaders, District and Council Volunteers, and Professional Scouters.

Wood Badge is the Ultimate BSA Leadership Training. It is designed to help Scout leaders in all programs. Originated by Lord Baden-Powell, Scouters learn leadership skills in a unique way. Through living the scouting program and applying the leadership skills taught at Wood Badge, one will develop a knowledge and understanding of new skills one can use in one's home unit, district, and council.

Course Pre-Requisites: *Currently-registered adult Scouter, active in a Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Venturing Crew, District, or Council. *At least 21 years of age. (Assistant Scoutmasters may be 18 years of age or older.) *Have completed Position Specific Training for your position.

Note: Outdoor Leader Skills is required for Scoutmasters, and Assistant Scoutmasters.

*Submit a BSA Medical Form Parts A-C, completed and signed by a certified and licensed health care provider less than 12 months before the start of the course. Proof of Insurance is also required (Insurance Card). A non-refundable $75 deposit is required with registration to reserve your place on the course.

COST: Total Spring course fee is $260.00, which may be paid in installments, with total fees being paid no later than January 26th, 2019. This total fee covers all training materials, food, 1 course activity shirt, photos, and Wood Badge recognition items. In addition, you will need your personal gear, and BSA uniforms. A suggested packing list will be provided.

Space is limited. Register early! Qualified candidates will be registered on a first-come-first-served basis, until the course reaches required capacity. Alternates will be notified, and placed on a stand-by list if “stand by” is requested.

Note: Upon receipt and approval of the application, additional course information will be sent. LIMITED SCHOLARSHIPS are available by contacting the course director. Additional scholarships are available through the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the AFL-CIO. Contact your local chapter(s), or CFC Program Services for applications.
