Narcoossee District Pinewood Derby
Narcoossee District will be holding a District Pinewood Derby competition this year on April 7th from 9:30AM until 12:00PM. We are looking for Scouts and their cars from all over the district to compete against each other and see who has the fastest car in Narcoossee District.
OPEN TO CUBS, FAMILY, AND ADULTS There will be both a Cub Scout division and an “Outlaw” division so that everyone can partake in the fun.
AWARDS: Trophies for placement will be awarded in the Cub Scout Divisions for overall placement. There will also be certificates for the following: Most Unique, Best Theme, Kid’s Choice, Best Paint Job, and District Choice.
Registration cost is $5
Standard BSA Rules will apply and all cars must pass the following inspection to qualify for the race:
1 - Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.
2 - Length shall not exceed 7 inches.
3 - Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.
4 - Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit.
5 - Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
6 - No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.
7 - The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.
8 - The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
9 - No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the car.
10 - Front of car must be able to engage the pin release on the track & no part may extend past the pin.

OUTLAW DIVISION In order to make sure everyone can be a part of the fun, all leaders, family members, or old Scouts can also participate. They will all run in an “Outlaw” division with modified rules. While the length, height, width and clearance rules are the same, and you can’t use combustion or electricity, most everything else is fair game. Build it, race it, have fun!!!
