Narcoossee District BALOO IOLS Training

What is BALOO Training?
BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) training is an essential course for any Cub Scout parent or leader interested in organizing and participating in overnight camping trips. It’s designed to equip adults with the knowledge and skills they need to safely and confidently guide Cub Scouts in outdoor activities. The training includes both online modules and an in-person, hands-on session that covers everything from campfire planning and outdoor cooking to first aid and nature awareness. BALOO is required for at least two adult on every Cub Scout overnight outing. More the better.

IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills)Welcome to Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills training. The Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) course builds and expands on the concepts and themes introduced in Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training and provides Scouters with the confidence to take youth into the outdoors.Specifically, this hands-on program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. In addition, the teaching methods, activities, and games model the variety of teaching used ineffective and engaging Scouting programs.
IOLS is required for Upper Troop Leaders to be "Fully Trained" and we highly encourage troop leaders coming to the class to have taken the scout master training course before attending.
