Camping Outdoors Advanced Leadership Skills
“A Florida Scouting Skills Learning Adventure”

As Servant Leaders, we help provide the “fuel” for our Scouts to start the fires of Scout Spirit. Through outdoor adventure, character is built on top of those COALS…

COALS has been developed and designed to provide leaders with hands-on advanced outdoors skills and Scoutcraft that were taught in past Scouting Courses and apply them to today’s Scouting Adventure.
This course does not replace any existing course but is intended to build on them. COALS presents skills and ideas that are Florida based for improved  Scouting Adventure. The course will:

1. Provide improved confidence in doing and teaching outdoors Scouting Skills.
2. Better understand and utilize youth Instructor leadership position in their home units
3. Learn fresh ideas and fun hands-on Scouting activities to bring back to your home unit
4. Encourage participants to incorporate traditional Scouting skills into a units program.
5. Practice and develop hands-on skills learning to improve effectiveness in unit Adult Leaders

Participants must participate in both the Saturday Orientation and the full weekend that occurs about two weeks later. A full field uniform is worn throughout the course. Patrol campsites will be established and participants will need to bring their own personal tents and essential camping equipment.

Cost for the event prior to January 13, 2023 is $95.
After that the fee is $125

Lunch is provided on the orientation day.

Meals begin for the full weekend with dinner on Friday through lunch on Sunday. Participants should bring a lunch for Friday since the course will start at 1:00PM sharp! You can arrive as early as 11:00AM to set up your campsite.

All registered Scouts BSA leaders, Venturing leaders and Exploring leaders are invited to attend. It is strongly recommended that Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills training be completed  prior.

Youth over the age of 16, that have completed National Youth Leadership Training are also invited to attend.
