Timuqua District Pinewood Derby

THE TIMUQUA DISTRICT DERBY IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!
RULES
*HAVE FUN!!!!!
*Maximum overall width shall not infringe upon another lane
*Car must sit on the track, centered on the guide, and not protrude past the starting post.
*Car must be able to pass freely under the scoring device (approx. 5”)
*The wheelbase (distance between the front and rear axles, center to center) may not be changed from the kit body distance of 4-3/8". The official kit block has pre-cut slots which are correctly spaced. If desired, these slots may be pre-drilled before they are used. Use of the pre-cut slots is not required; however, any new slots or holes must have the same wheelbase as the original slots (4-3/8”).
*ONLY OFFICIAL BSA wheels, axles, and block may be used. (Attachments and decorations can be of any make)
*Car can weigh a maximum of 5 oz. (strictly enforced)
*ONLY Dry graphite lubricant is allowed. (Silicone and oil-based lubricants are prohibited)
*ALL designs must be in good taste and meet the guidelines of appropriate scouting.
*Once a car has been checked in it can not be handled except by the officials and official pit crew. If a car comes off the track, the race will be rerun. If minor repairs are needed, the official pit crew will do their best to fix the car.
*No one may enter the race area (that will be clearly marked) except race officials and staff.*
*Only one car per participant may be entered into the derby.
The event is open to Scouts BSA, adults and siblings, competing separately from the Cubs in the Outlaw Division
*Be a good sport! If you’ve been eliminated, continue to follow the rules and cheer on your friends.
