2023 Vigil Induction

Only Vigil candidates and members may sign up to attend Vigil induction events. Vigil Induction is scheduled for Saturday, August 5 – Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Camp Olmsted, Goshen Scout Reservation, and Saturday, November 11-12, 2023, at Camp William B. Snyder. If you cannot attend either scheduled induction date, you must contact the Vigil Inductions Team at vigilinductions@wipit470.org at your earliest opportunity. 

Vigil candidates should identify their guide when registering. Vigil members planning to be a guide should identify the candidate they will be guiding.  Tents/cabins will not be available. Vigil members should plan on bringing their tent to this event.

In addition to your uniform shirt and Brotherhood sash, candidates should dress appropriately to remain in the outdoors for a lengthy time (remember, come prepared for the season and not the day). Prepare your pack for the experience by including the following items:

• Mask
• Canteen or a large water bottle
• Rain gear
• Watch
• Matches
• Pocket knife, axe, or saw
• Small Camp Chair

We ask that guides bring a gallon jug or bucket.

You must arrive by 7 pm Saturday, August 5. (or Saturday, November 11, 2023) check-in will begin at 7 pm, and meetings will begin at 8 pm. Please eat dinner before arriving on Saturday night.

Our experience has shown that candidates will be tired following the Vigil; driving home is prohibited. You MUST carpool with someone who is not participating in the overnight activities (this is a National policy).  Please arrange for your ride to pick you up about an hour after sunrise, around 9 am on Sunday, August 6 (or Sunday, November 12).

The cost is $60 per Vigil Candidate. This price includes your registration for Vigil and your registration for the Lodge Banquet to be held in January 2024. If you plan to purchase the 2024 Lodge Passport, this registration can cover one of your guests.

The cost is $20 for Vigil members attending as guides or staff. If you are interested in staffing the event, please contact the Vigil Inductions Team at vigilinductions@wipit470.org before registering.

Notice to all Order of the Arrow members
An active Order of the Arrow member is:
- Currently registered with BSA, and
- Lodge dues are paid through the current year.
If your dues are not current, you will need to pay them before registering; Annual Dues are $16 and may be paid online.

All registrants must bring a copy of their BSA Annual Health and Medical Form (parts A & B). There are links to the form on this registration page. Please review and follow the BSA Pre-Event Medical Screening Checklist.

All members 18 years or older must be current in their Youth Protection Training.

More information will be sent out to all Vigil Candidates and Vigil Members from the Inductions team. Please watch for emails from the Inductions team closer to the event.
