Venturing Climbing Lock-In

Event Details

The NCAC Venturing Officers’ Association (CVOA) brings you our 2nd Annual Climbing Lock-In and 26th Anniversary Venturing Celebration at Vertical Rock in Manassas, VA!!

This year’s Climbing Lock-In will feature “ALL-Night” climbing!! And...

Pizza!! Pizza!! Pizza!!

This event is open to ALL Venturers and Venturing age Scouts BSA and Sea Scouts!!!  In addition, this event is a recruitment event so if you know of anyone who is interested in learning about Venturing, encourage them to attend this event and see what we do!!

The doors at Vertical Rock will open to participants at 9:00PM. Participants will check-in with Vertical Rock and immediately check-in with the CVOA. The Lock-In will start off with a “Learn the Ropes” intro course, which will teach you all of the necessary safety in order to climb in the facility and manage the ropes without the need for an instructor. Once the “Learn the Ropes” course in over, a Vertical Rock Staff member will stay the entire evening to assist with anything we may need.

Vertical Rock does require each participant to complete their waiver. We would encourage each participant to watch their “Bouldering Safety Video” prior to completing the waiver!! Due to the nature of this event we would also like you to complete and bring Medical Form Parts A & B.

If you have any games or activities that you would like to bring, feel free to do so! Video games are allowed, but please provide your own display, power cord, and necessary setup equipment. We’d love to see some of your favorite games. Some of the officers will be bringing some of their favorite board games! All games must be age appropriate, and we reserve the right to confiscate/turn off any inappropriate games.

You are required to wear closed toe shoes while climbing. Please bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated throughout the night. You are also encouraged to bring a camp chair so you are guaranteed a place to sit, and a sleeping bag if you would like to take a nap. There will be spots set aside for anyone who would like to sleep. If you are able, we would also love it if you could bring your unit flag.

Cost: The price for anyone who is interested in climbing is $65, and for anyone who doesn’t want to climb it is $25.
